Is it possible to buy second hand iDrive and BT controllers? Any suggestions? Should I get a 2nd quote? Would a software upgrade maybe fix it? Please give suggestions. Took it in this week to a very good BMW techie in Centurion and got the very bad news that the iDrive and Bluetooth controller(?) needs to be replaced.Įish!!! I know it's probably time to replace my car but I can't sell it before forking out the 23k and I suppose the car is worth only about R200k. my 330d E90 M sport has developed a problem, it started a month ago with the music switching from cd to radio, Its done this a fair few times but I never worried, anyway jumped in it this morning. The problems just got worse and now the whole iDrive is almost completely unusable. Its possible to retrofit a BMW iDrive touch controller or activate the voice command feature in vehicles that didnt come with these handy options from the factory. Just before Xmas die radio started acting up, same as cool4u2b, sound goes on and off. The water pump broke and R12k later it's as good as new. I love my car and it gave me great service until it turned 8 in October last year. Every day I see it I still think, "what a beauty". Has only 114 000km on the clock and still looks great. I drive a 2006 335i Coupe which i had since new. Hi guys, (and girls, I hope I'm not the only one) In summary, I hope nobody ever gets this kind of failure when the car is out of motorplan. The iDrive system seems a lot faster and more responsive, also the layout is a bit better, so I would assume that it has the latest software on that addressed all those issues. The one thing that I am very happy about is that the new head unit seems to be a bit better than the previous one, in terms of colours and picture quality. Let me also add that this price is what BMW charge internally, so I can only imagine what the retail cost would be. This happens at low speed, but it can be dangerous as the steering wheel and brakes become hard to operate. So after all that and a parts bill (which is luckily not for me) of approximately R27k, everything seems to working as intended. Start-stop issues Early production models may have a problem with a start-stop system, which shuts down the engine before the vehicle comes to a stop. So the electronics in the car seemed a bit dodgy, lets hope that this is all sorted and that there is no underlying problem that caused this. Eventually they replaced the Towbar Module (as I have an electrically operated towbar). They then had trouble coding the system for an entire week. After which they proceeded to replace the entire Head Unit. Getting back to the repairs, initially the MULF was replaced. I've only had the car since taking delivery of it in early October, for a total of 7 weeks, the rest of the time its been at the dealer for repairs. So I just thought I would give you guys a update on what exactly they've replaced.īelieve it or not, but I only recently got my car back, after having a few loan cars and such, but yeah finally got it back.
